Daniel Anderson, Robert Langer, among the top translational reseachers in biotechnology.

The list of top translational researchers in biotechnology for 2018, in Nature Biotechnology, a journal about the best research from across the field, includes two faculty members of the MIT Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES). Daniel Anderson, an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering and a core faculty member at IMES, and Robert Langer, an affiliate faculty member at IMES and the David H. Koch Institute Professor, MIT, were listed in the top 20:

The list is comprised of total patents (US and European) awarded in 2018, as well as the following characteristics:

  • The researcher’s top-cited patent over the past five years.
  • The H-index, a calculation of the impact of a researcher’s publications over time (the higher the number, the greater the impact).
